EMCC Software Ltd (http://www.emccsoft.com) is pleased to announce that it has been collaborating closely with the OMTP on their BONDI initiative to make a consistent and secure set of services (Application Programmers Interfaces  (APIs)) available to Mobile Web Widgets across a range of open mobile platforms. To this end, EMCC Software has created a location enabled Widget using the BONDI Reference Implementation (http://bondi.omtp.org). The EMCC “GigGuide” Widget uses the GPS positioning information on a mobile device to retrieve a list of upcoming music concert events local to the user’s current area from Last.FM.  Users can then opt to save the event information in the Calendar application and/or send the details to their friends via SMS messaging.

Edinburgh, Scotland, 12th February 2009

HSL is today announcing that the HSL 2.75G Femtocell is now involved in trials with a number of operators throughout the world. Mobile operators and fixed-line operators are involved in these trials and the scope of the trials include residential and office use of the HSL femtocell.

A number of operators trialling the HSL 2.75G Femtocell have expressed the opinion that deployment of femtocells for residential and office environments should not necessarily mean that 3G femtocells be used. The justification for the use of a 2G femtocell capable of high data rates using GPRS/EDGE instead of a 3G femtocell is the prevalence of WiFi in the home and office which can be cheaper than 3G and provides significantly higher data rates.
