EMCC Software Ltd (http://www.emccsoft.com) is pleased to announce that it has been collaborating closely with the OMTP on their BONDI initiative to make a consistent and secure set of services (Application Programmers Interfaces (APIs)) available to Mobile Web Widgets across a range of open mobile platforms. To this end, EMCC Software has created a location enabled Widget using the BONDI Reference Implementation (http://bondi.omtp.org). The EMCC “GigGuide” Widget uses the GPS positioning information on a mobile device to retrieve a list of upcoming music concert events local to the user’s current area from Last.FM. Users can then opt to save the event information in the Calendar application and/or send the details to their friends via SMS messaging.
“EMCC is an active part of the BONDI community and supports the standardisation, services, security and consistency it will bring to Mobile Web Development”, said Garry Partington CTO of EMCC.
”It is great to see how rapidly EMCC have been able to create widgets using the BONDI Reference Implementation.” said Tim Haysom, CMO of OMTP. “Their GigGuide application really shows that BONDI is real”
The EMCC GigGuide Widget will be demonstrated alongside other Widgets by the OMTP BONDI team at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress at Barcelona in mid February 2009. Demonstrations will be made on 16th February at the developer garage event at Auditorium 3, Hall 5.
