New Service Aims To Make Every Call Local

LONDON AND BARCELONA (17 February 2009) – Truphone today announced plans to launch, later this year, Truphone Local AnywhereTM: a single-SIM, multi-country mobile service that will make any mobile call within the set of supported countries into a local call.

The introduction of Truphone’s multi-country, single-SIM service will change the current experience of people with an international lifestyle.  Their mobile experience is currently characterized by frustration, brought on by constantly having to juggle multiple SIM cards and mobile phones in order to minimize their mobile costs.

The company announced its plans today at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (Stand 7C38).

Mobile phone manufacturers risk losing their customers as they race to incorporate touchscreen features into their phones in a bid to copy Apple’s success, according to feedback from shoppers collated by customer review website, www.reevoo.com.
 
More than 19,000 buyers of phones were asked by Reevoo.com to score and assess 226 phones against a range of criteria, including style and function. Reevoo.com’s analysis of feedback from customers shows that 5 out of ten phones in the bottom ten are touchscreen models [see top and bottom rated phones in the tables overleaf].

CSLNWM’s network in Hong Kong to be replaced with an all-IP network 

17 February 2009, Barcelona, Spain - ZTE, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions and Hong Kong’s #1 mobile operator CSL New World Mobility (CSLNWM), a subsidiary of Australia’s Telstra Corporation, today announced that they would work together to build in Hong-Kong, the world’s first SDR (Software Defined Radio) based HSPA+ network making it the first large-scale all-IP network with such technology.

Integration of NEC Device Management and Carrier IQ Mobile Service Intelligence Solutions
