Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk) has sold a record number of 503,025 vehicles globally over the last year (+2.9 per cent growth) maintaining its position as the number one van importer.

Furthermore, despite challenging market conditions VWCV increased its share of the UK commercial vehicle market by nearly one per cent in 2008. In the face of falling registrations across the new commercial vehicle market of 13.7 per cent, total registrations of  Volkswagen’s commercial vehicles fell by only 4.9 per cent (1,350 units), to 26,427 vehicles.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is helping new and used van buyers in early 2009 with new finance offers on some of its most popular vans, such as the VW Caddy, now available new from £189 a month, or used from the Volkswagen Assured Used scheme from only £99 a month

Selected new models of the VW Caddy, Caddy Maxi and Transporter van ranges are now available on Contract Hire or Finance Lease programmes from £189, £209 and £229 a month, respectively, over 36 months at 10,000 miles per annum.  This attractive financing offer is available to business users from participating Volkswagen Van Centres until 31 March 2009.

The Telecoms Network (http://www.telecoms-network.net) a new dedicated social network aimed at telecoms professionals has been launched this month. The site provides an outlet for the telecoms industry to network, upload images, video and news, and interact via groups, forums and polls.

The site focuses on all facets of telecommunications, from network infrastructure, devices and technologies, to content, IPTV, content and mobile. Members can interact with likeminded professionals to share ideas, and to discuss important topics affecting the industry.

A new, state of the art Verve Van Centre in Glasgow was officially opened last week by Stephan Schaller, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The new Verve Van Centre (http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/van-centres/verve/ ), which represents a financial investment of £3m and is expected to create 20 new jobs, is a bespoke building in a new location at Glasgow Business Park in Baillieston, Glasgow.  It replaces the previous Verve Van Centre which had outgrown its premises in Rutherglen, Glasgow.

The new building will enhance Verve's customer service and experience with more servicing facilities, thanks to its larger ten vehicle workshop equipped with the latest testing and diagnostic equipment and fully trained staff.  There is also a spacious showroom to demonstrate the award-winning Volkswagen range of vans including the Caddy vans and Transporter vans, people carriers and even the California camper van, plus a range of Volkswagen Assured Used vans.

 Thursday 20th November 2008, Toyota Motor Europe (TME) and CERTPOINT Systems™, a leading global provider of corporate training software and solutions have been awarded the prestigious Silver Award in the “Best e-Learning project in securing widespread adoption” category by e-Learning Age. The ceremony took place at the Park Lane Hotel in London on 6th November 2008.

The award submission presented the complex challenges that Toyota successfully addressed when implementing its Learning Management System to the company’s expansive retailer network. It also focused on the company’s process improvements.
