Bristol-Myers Squibb to Acquire Kosan Biosciences

Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY) and Kosan Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ: KOSN) announced today that the companies have signed a definitive merger agreement providing for the acquisition of Kosan, a cancer therapeutics company, by Bristol-Myers Squibb, for $5.50 per share in cash. The transaction, with a net aggregate purchase price of approximately $190 million after deducting Kosan’s projected net cash balance at June 30, 2008, has been unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies. The acquisition of Kosan will enhance Bristol-Myers Squibb’s pipeline with compounds in two important classes of anticancer agents: novel Hsp90 (heat shock protein 90) inhibitors and epothilones.

ORO SILVER ACQUIRES MAJORITY INTEREST IN EL COMPAS MINE, ZACATECAS, MEXICO

Oro Silver Resources Ltd. (“Oro Silver”) (TSX-V: OSR) announces that it, through its 100% owned Mexican subsidiary, completed the purchase of a 51% interest in the El Compas mining property, located four kilometres south of Zacatecas, Mexico.

Oro Silver acquired an option over the El Compas mining property in June 2007 for cash payments totaling USD $2.7 million over a two-year period (see press release dated June 05, 2007). As of May 23, 2008, Oro Silver has paid USD $1.6 million, thereby gaining a 51% equity interest in the El Compas property. Oro Silver retains the exclusive right to acquire the remaining 49% interest in the property by completing additional payments totaling USD $1.1 million over the next year.

Improved Collaboration primary driver for Web 2.0 technologies, says survey

WorkLight says popular Internet tools such as Facebook and iGoogle are at the heart of a recent survey that reveals new figures regarding enterprise adoption of Web 2.0 technologies.

In the survey (conducted by Ziff Davis Enterprise), 282 IT professionals were polled about their plans and concerns around Web 2.0 adoption, with more than 71 percent of respondents indicating that improved collaboration was a primary driver for adopting these new technologies.

Floodline Warnings Direct contract signed with a remit to expand registrations

Fujitsu Services, one of Europe’s leading IT services companies, today announced it has secured a further two year contract with the Environment Agency to continue to develop a managed service that protects the public from the risk of flooding. During this period, Fujitsu will assist the Environment Agency to evolve the system to meet the recommendations of the Pitt Review[1] into the floods of 2007.

The first change to the system in 2008 will be an enhancement to the existing manual registration process for residents to an online registration service – putting the citizen experience at the forefront of the service.
