January 16th 2012 - Yell today announces the appointment of Linda Kennedy to the new role of Group Human Resources Director. Linda will lead organisational change and support the integration of Yell’s global business in the UK, US, Spain and some countries in Latin America, at a time of rapid transformation.

 She joins Yell from UK mobile operator Everything Everywhere, the joint venture between Orange and T Mobile, where she held the role of Chief Change Officer reporting to the CEO and delivered the integration of the two businesses. Previously, Linda was Group HR Director at international service company Serco where amongst her responsibilities was the development of a people strategy and the implementation of a new leadership and talent management framework.

Blue Coat Agrees to Be Acquired by Private Equity Firm Thoma Bravo

Shareholders to Receive $25.81 per Share in Cash; Transaction Valued at Approximately $1.3 Billion

Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: BCSI - News), a leading provider of Web security and WAN optimization solutions, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an investor group led by San Francisco-based private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo, LLC, in a transaction valued at approximately $1.3 billion. The Blue Coat Board of Directors has approved the agreement and resolved to recommend that the shareholders of Blue Coat adopt this agreement. Blue Coat will continue to operate with its focus on Web security and WAN optimization.

The investor group is led by Thoma Bravo and includes the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (Teachers') through its private investor department, Teachers' Private Capital.

IBM to Acquire DemandTec to Expand Cloud-based Analytics for Smarter Commerce

IBM (NYSE: IBM) and DemandTec (Nasdaq: DMAN) today announced that the two companies have entered into a definitive merger agreement for IBM to acquire DemandTec in an all cash transaction at a price of $13.20/share, or at a net price of approximately $440 million, after adjusting for cash.

The acquisition of DemandTec will extend IBM's Smarter Commerce initiative by adding cloud-based price, promotion and other merchandising and marketing analytics to help companies better define the best price points and product mix based on customer buying trends.
