Company confirms 16 new companies licensed to date in fiscal 2009

Wi-LAN Inc. ("Wi-LAN" or the "Company") (TSX: WIN), a leading technology innovation and licensing company, today announced that current licensee Westinghouse Digital Electronics LLC (Westinghouse) has signed a multi-year running royalty agreement for the Company's U.S. V-Chip patent.

In addition, the Company announced that Hisense USA Corporation has entered into a multi-year running royalty agreement for Wi-LAN's Canadian V-Chip patent.

"We believe this latest agreement with Westinghouse could have significant future potential for Wi-LAN," said Jim Skippen, Chairman & CEO. "So far 16 new companies, including Westinghouse and Samsung, have entered into multi-year agreements to license Wi-LAN's technologies in fiscal 2009.
