A-Power Receives NDRC Approval and Makes Cash Contribution to Texas Wind Farm Project Company

A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (Nasdaq: APWR) ("A-Power" or "the Company"), a leading provider of distributed power generation ("DG") systems in China and a fast-growing manufacturer of wind turbines, today announced that its subsidiary, Shenyang Power Group ("SPG") has completed the establishment of a project company related to the development of a 600MW wind farm in Texas and has made an initial cash contribution of $36.625 million. In connection with the capital contribution, SPG has received final approval from the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission ("NDRC") to proceed with this project.

On December 16, 2009, SPG entered into a Limited Liability Company Agreement (the "LLC Agreement") with United States Renewable Energy Group Wind Partners I, LLC ("USREG Wind").

Quantum Technologies to Acquire Schneider Power

Business Combination to create North American alternative energy company

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. (NASDAQ: QTWW) ("Quantum" or the "Company") and Schneider Power Inc. (TSX VENTURE: SNE) ("Schneider Power") today announced the signing of a definitive business combination agreement under which Quantum has agreed to acquire in a stock-for-stock exchange all of the outstanding common shares of Schneider Power.

The acquisition of Schneider Power will enhance Quantum's strategic position as a fully integrated alternative energy company with technologies and capabilities to further the commercial use and adoption of alternative and renewable energies. The transaction will combine Schneider Power's wind and solar power generation development portfolio with Quantum's world-leading alternative fuel technologies and solar power technologies to create a fully integrated renewable energy company.

Western Wind secures 24 year right of way extension for Mesa Wind Farm and the right to expand from 30MW to at least 50MW

Western Wind Energy Corp. ("Western Wind") is pleased to announce that the U.S. Bureau of Land Management ("BLM") has okayed it's proposal to lease it's current Mesa Wind Power project for another 24 years. The lease was expected to expire in 2013. It gives the company the right to operate on this high value site located near Palm Springs, California until 2037. The Mesa project is potentially one of the highest yielding wind parks in the country, per megawatt (MW), due to its outstanding wind speeds. The BLM also approved Western Wind's proposal to replace its first generation turbines with new turbines. The new turbines will increase the nameplate capacity from 30 MW to at least 50 MW.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. to Develop a 49.5MW Wind Farm in Inner Mongolia for Jihe Orient Wind Energy Co., Ltd.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: APWR) ("A-Power" or "the Company"), a leading provider of distributed power generation ("DG") systems in China and a fast-growing manufacturer of wind turbines, today announced the Company has won a "full-responsibility" contract to develop a 49.5MW wind farm in the township of Saiwusu, Guba County, Inner Mongolia ("the Saiwusu Wind Farm"), for the Urat Rear Banner-based Jihe Orient Wind Energy Co., Ltd. ("Jihe Orient"). The total value of the contract is $90.5 million.

A-Power is to supply the wind turbines, the towers and the foundations, and oversee the construction, subcontracting and installation for this project. The estimated cost breakdown is as follows: equipment procurement $84.2 million; construction and installation $4.8 million; miscellaneous $1.5 million. The project is due to commence early October this year and the estimated completion time is June 2010.

AMSC Accelerates Shipments of Wind Turbine Components Under Amended Sinovel Supply Contract

American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC), a global energy technologies company, today announced that it has amended its multi-year contract with Beijing-based Sinovel Wind Corporation Limited, China’s largest wind turbine manufacturer, to enable Sinovel to meet increased demand in China for its 1.5 megawatt (MW) wind turbines.

The original contract called for AMSC to ship core electrical components for Sinovel’s 1.5 MW wind turbines beginning in January 2009 through the end of December 2011. Under the terms of the amended contract, AMSC will increase its core electrical component shipments to Sinovel in calendar year 2009 and 2010 and will complete all shipments by the end of April 2011.
