WestJet reports record March traffic

Airline flies nearly 104,000 more guests year over year and reports second highest March load factor

WestJet today announced March traffic results with a load factor of 86.2 per cent. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased nine per cent year over year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew seven per cent over the same period. The airline flew nearly 104,000 more guests this March compared to March of last year.

"Earning Canada's preferred airline status while carrying record traffic would not have been possible without WestJetters - our caring and friendly owners who are committed to the airline's ongoing success," said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky.

WestJet (TSX: WJA) today announced its fourth quarter and year-end results for 2011. The airline reported fourth quarter net earnings of $35.6 million, or $0.26 per share and full-year net earnings of $148.7 million, or $1.06 per share; up significantly from the net earnings of $90.2 million, or $0.62 per share, reported for 2010. WestJet's operating cash flow per share for the full-year 2011 was $3.60, an increase of 25 per cent compared to last year.

Priceline.com Reports Financial Results for 3rd Quarter 2009

Priceline.com Incorporated (Nasdaq: PCLN) today reported its financial results for the 3^rd quarter 2009. Gross travel bookings for the 3^rd quarter, which refers to the total dollar value, inclusive of all taxes and fees, of all travel services purchased by consumers, were $2.7 billion, an increase of 32.8% over a year ago.

Priceline.com had revenues in the 3^rd quarter of $730.7 million, a 30.1% increase over a year ago. The Company’s international operations contributed revenues in the 3^rd quarter of $316.9 million, a 41.7% increase versus a year ago (approximately 50% on a local currency basis). Priceline.com’s gross profit for the 3^rd quarter was $434.0 million, a 37.3% increase from the prior year.

WestJet today announced April traffic results with a load factor of 81.2 per cent. Revenue passenger miles (RPM) increased 5.5 per cent year over year and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASM), grew 7.2 per cent over the same period.

"Given the difficult economic environment, we are positive about our April traffic results," commented Sean Durfy, WestJet President and CEO. "These results, which benefited from Easter travel, were driven by our network expansion into sun destinations and significant support from WestJet Vacations in filling seats."

Transat confirms customers have been freed following a hostage-taking in Jamaica

Transat confirms that its customers, as well as the crew aboard CanJet Flight 918, have been freed after being involved in a hostage-taking that began on April 19 at 11:30 p.m. ADT on the tarmac at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica. All passengers and crew are safe and sound and no one was injured during the operation.

CanJet Flight 918 was en route from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Montego Bay and Santa Clara, Cuba.
