Leading Child Trust Fund (CTF) provider, The Children’s Mutual (http://www.thechildrensmutual.co.uk/) announces the launch of a direct wills creation service in association with wills and probate experts, Flint Bishop solicitors.  This development comes in response to requests from customers and the knowledge that many parents have not made formal arrangements for their children and estate.

A staggering four in five households with dependent children have not made a will with many believing the process to be too complex, irrelevant to them or simply too morbid to consider.  However, in the event of both parents dying unexpectedly, without a will, a court may have to decide who should look after any children and how to distribute any resultant estate – and this will not necessarily reflect the parents’ intentions.

Discussing this new venture, Marketing Director Tony Anderson of the Child Trust Fund provider said, ‘During discussions with our customers about the aspects of parenting that most worry them, the issue of wills and securing their children’s futures was regularly high up the list.  They were particularly concerned that the ‘right’ people would be able to look after their children and continue to raise them in the way that they themselves would have done.’

Alan Mercer of Flint Bishop commented, ‘It may not be something that most people like to think about but making a will and keeping it up to date is the best way for parents to ensure that their wishes for their children are known and taken into account should the worst happen.  It will also guarantee that other family members won’t be left to spend time and money sorting our complicated financial and legal matters.’

Tony Anderson added, ‘We know that parents appreciate the importance of writing a will but it often gets stuck on their ‘to do list’ for some time because they assume that it will be time consuming and expensive, as well as an emotionally uncomfortable task.  But when you consider the potential alternatives it clearly is a necessity.’
