Interxion, a leading European operator of carrier-neutral data centres, today announced that Telecom Italia Sparkle has extended its relationship with Interxion by locating equipment in the company’s recently completed Frankfurt 5 data centre. The company already has a presence in Interxion’s Frankfurt 2, Dusseldorf, Brussels, Paris and Vienna data centres.
Telecom Italia Sparkle network continues to expand both in footprint and capacity in order to support its full-fledge, wholesale connectivity services portfolio. Seabone, its Internet backbone, ranked within the worldwide “Top 10 backbones” and currently supports approximately 12% of the international connectivity needs of the German broadband community. Seabone is now available for more service providers and Web companies that want to experience a superior IP transit service.
Interxion’s Frankfurt data centres make up Germany’s largest data hub, providing Telecom Italia Sparkle with exceptional opportunities to meet new customers and peering partners. The hub offers direct connectivity to over 150 carriers and Internet Service Providers as well as 80% of the members of DE-CIX, the Frankfurt-based German Internet exchange. The Frankfurt 5 facility can supply up to 30 kW of power per cabinet to meet power requirements for the latest high-density server configurations and features free air cooling as standard to optimise energy efficiency.
“We have grown with Interxion because they provide the high level of availability, scalability and connectivity we need to guarantee the best possible service to our customers,” said Pier Giorgio M. Regini, in charge of Vendor Management at Telecom Italia Sparkle. “From the beginning, Interxion has made every effort to meet Telecom Italia Sparkle’s challenging and stringent requirements associated with superior quality of service that it is committed to provide to our customers.”
“We are extremely pleased that Telecom Italia Sparkle has again expanded in Frankfurt, and we are dedicated to building on our successful relationship with them,” said Anthony Foy, Interxion Group MD. “There is currently no other data centre in the region that can provide such high levels of connectivity, power, energy efficiency and service. We are continuously striving to extend and enhance these offerings, not just in Germany but in all 25 of our data centres across Europe.”
