Ekofon, Mexico's first service provider to offer competitive calling services has selected the DIGITALK Multiservice Platform (MSP) to offer enhanced services in the USA and Mexico.

Since market liberation in Mexico in 2006, Ekofon have established and maintained their position as leading alternative providers in long distance calling services; including the successful ‘Saludo' brand calling card, wholesale service provision for high volume carriers worldwide and services for more than 50,000 subscribers. The introduction of the DIGITALK Multiservice Platform allows Ekofon to transfer their service operations onto a single platform for rapid new service launch and consolidated management, rating, billing and reporting.

The initial launch phase sees the transfer of the Retail and Wholesale Prepaid Calling Card services migrating to the DIGITALK MSP with DIGITALK's Broadband Telephony service to follow.

In addition, Ekofon are already in negotiation with wireless carriers to establish themselves as an MVNO, using DIGITALK's Prepaid Mobile solution.

Victor Trevino, President of Ekofon details the selection process "We were initially looking for a solution that was strong on wholesale with the ability to deliver prepaid retail as secondary. DIGITALK's reputation as leaders in the prepaid calling card markets brought them to our attention and after evaluating eight solutions in total, the DIGITALK range of services, the speed of deployment, and being able to consolidate platform management was an unbeatable proposition."

"We will immediately see operational cost reductions and have greater control over our services by moving to our own dedicated platform."

Mark Ashdown, DIGITALK's EVP of Sales and Marketing added "Ekofon's service launch plan is exemplary of DIGITALK's ability to support leading innovative service providers globally. This demonstrates that seizing the opportunities rapidly pays dividends and we look forward to seeing Ekofon develop in these expanded markets."
