(San Mateo Calif., USA; Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain), [18 February, 2009] – Zed, the world's largest mobile content company by revenue and geographical presence, has signed a deal with DeviceAnywhere, a global leader in end-to-end mobile application development solutions (booth #2A17), to improve its global content development.

Zed, which has operations in 54 countries and agreements with over 130 mobile networks, has over 170,000 SKUs of mobile content products and services including personalization content, games and applications. Faced with the tough task of testing its products across hundreds of handsets on different mobile networks across the world, Zed turned to DeviceAnywhere to help improve its testing process as well as reduce its testing budget.
DeviceAnywhere is a revolutionary online service used by thousands of mobile organizations and their developers. It provides access to real mobile handsets that are each connected to live networks. These devices are accessible remotely over the Internet, allowing users to interact in real time to ensure all development, porting, testing, and monitoring needs are met. Using DeviceAnywhere, Zed has access to more than 2000 devices on over 30 different carrier networks worldwide, with locations in the key markets of U.S., U.K., Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Spain.

Juan Carlos Gonzálvez, Managing Director of Games at Zed, commented: “We can now test on more devices in more locations, where it wouldn’t have been cost-effective or practical before DeviceAnywhere. As a result, our whole Quality Assurance program is more robust and efficient than before. We are also realizing significant cost-savings because we no longer have to maintain a large bank of mobile devices for testing. Because the devices on DeviceAnywhere are available from anywhere in the world, it also means that we have been able to create efficiencies in our business by centralizing our testing facilities in a couple of key locations.”

Usage of DeviceAnywhere has also improved Zed’s customer services as Zed representatives can now trouble shoot any issues with Zed’s content delivery system ensuring that the customer has the most successful experience possible when downloading Zed mobile content. Juan Carlos Gonzálvez, Managing Director of Games at Zed continued: “In terms of usability, our developers do not want to go back to the old days when they had to manage the entire testing and monitoring process on devices in-house.”

Faraz Syed, CEO of DeviceAnywhere commented: “In this economy, companies need to save money, but they cannot afford to sacrifice quality. Our collaboration with Zed has made their whole testing and monitoring process more robust, at the same time as saving them money. It’s a great example of what is happening across our customer base.”
