Amongst other benefits, network planning and optimisation tools assist Tanzania’s Leading Operator, Vodacom with a Cost Effective Dynamic Tariffing Solution

19 November, 2008, Leatherhead, UK & Cape Town, South Africa – AIRCOM International, the leading independent network planning and optimisation consultancy,  today announced that its work with Vodacom Tanzania (Tz) Ltd will help the operator implement a dynamic tariff offering.  Vodacom Tz will offer reduced tariffs to take advantage of superfluous cell sites in under-utilised areas of its network.

The regional network data produced by AIRCOM’s OPTIMA tool has helped set a benchmark for effective operational strategy within the Vodacom Group.  Vodacom Tz is using OPTIMA to calculate the amount of discount that can be applied to each individual cell site in the network and offer a new tariff based on the data produced.  The result is Vodacom Tz can differentiate its customer offering more effectively,

Coming on the back of Vodacom Tz registering its five millionth customer, AIRCOM has implemented a number of additional network monitoring and optimisation tools into the operator’s network.  The result is a customised tool suite able to create a common network report for its multi-vendor, multi-technology environment.  As a result, the operator can better plan and optimise various different elements of the network and deliver a number of unique new tariff plans to its customers.

“In times of economic uncertainty, it is imperative that operators look at new innovative and flexible ways of charging customers to secure the loyalty of a vast and rapidly expanding subscriber base,” says Graham Kemp, managing director, Africa at AIRCOM International.  “Our work with Vodacom Tz has allowed them to launch new strategic services based on our data, thereby providing affordable connectivity and improved network quality.”

“With its ‘think global and act local’ attitude, AIRCOM International’s knowledge of the African market combined with its world-leading skill set meant that it was the obvious choice to help plan, monitor and optimise our network performance,” said Dana Bakker, managing executive, operations at Vodacom Tz Ltd.  “Working with them we have been able to offer a range of unique, affordable and relevant services to our customers without compromising network quality, ensuring that the Vodacom user experience remains beyond the expectation of Tanzania’s average mobile user.”

Vodacom Tz has been working with AIRCOM since September 2006 and currently uses AIRCOM’s ASSET, OPTIMA, RANOPT and CONNECT tools from its ENTERPRISE tool suite.
