(London– July 21, 2011) Today’s IT administrators rely on remote access devices to manage essential datacenter functions without the need to be in the same physical location as the servers. However, if the privileged account passwords on these devices are not frequently changed, anyone with knowledge of the default passwords can gain unrestricted, anonymous access to these systems.

To address this vulnerability, Lieberman Software Corporation announced the immediate availability of a solution to discover Integrated Lights-Out (ILO) devices in Hewlett-Packard (HP) ProLiant servers and control access to the devices’ user accounts.

The Lieberman Software solution builds upon the existing security of HP iLO products and makes it easier for organizations to comply with government and industry regulations - such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and FISMA - that require documented controls for the release, use and changing of privileged account passwords.

HP iLO is an industry-leading remote access device that allows IT staff to access server administrative controls, reboot machines, monitor system components, and install and update BIOS from any location.

Lieberman Software’s solution enables organizations to maintain frequently changed, unique credentials for each iLO device on the network, eliminating the risky practice of using a common, shared password among multiple remote access devices. Access to the credentials is granted through an audited web portal, and the time-limited passwords are only available to delegated individuals and automatically changed after each use.

The Lieberman Software – HPiLO Integration

Effective immediately, Lieberman Software has integrated support for HP iLO devices in its privileged identity management (PIM) solutions Enterprise Random Password Manager (ERPM) and Random Password Manager (RPM). The integration is available to all supported ERPM and RPM customers, allowing organizations to automatically discover, change, store and securely retrieve iLO100, iLO2 and iLO3 login credentials on HP ProLiant servers throughout the enterprise.

Management can know precisely who had access to each privileged account and at what time, helping organizations bring their remote access controllers into compliance with regulatory mandates for securing privileged accounts. Lieberman Software’s products deploy quickly to alleviate the difficulties associated with the manual processes that IT administrators often undertake in an attempt to update the accounts on these devices.
