Grande West Achieves Buy America Certification
VANCOUVER, Dec. 12, 2016 - Grande West Transportation Group Inc. (TSXV: BUS; OTC PINK: GWTNF) – December 12, 2016: ("Grande West" or the "Company"), a Canadian bus manufacturer of heavy-duty mid-sized transit buses for sale in Canada and the United-States, is pleased to announce that it has met Buy America certification requirements for the sale of its Vicinity bus in the US.
Buy America provisions ensure that transportation infrastructure projects are built with American-made products. This means that local, state and Federal government investments in public transit are able to support an entire supply chain of American companies and their employees. The Company has achieved the required 60% US component content through audits, documented final assembly procedures, and scored Best-in-Class in the FTA's Altoona Test to qualify for the certification.
Buy America status enables the Company's exclusive US distributor, Alliance Bus Group ("ABG"), to bid on all public transit opportunities in the USA with Vicinity 30 and 35 foot models.
William Trainer, CEO of Grande West commented, "Buy America is another major milestone for the Company and will provide us with continued sales momentum into the US market in 2017 and beyond. We will continue to work on finalizing the business plan for our final assembly facility as ABG grows the sales backlog."
Doug Dunn, CEO of ABG stated, "This is a very exciting time for ABG and Grande West. In addition to providing Vicinity buses to the private market, we are now able to address the significant public transit market. Our pipeline of opportunities is very large and the Vicinity is a clear choice for many transit agencies as it provides considerable savings of capital, operating and maintenance costs versus competing products. ABG is well-positioned to aggressively address the US market in 2017 with recent Vicinity demo bus deliveries, Buy America certification and the FTA's Altoona Test Best-in-Class results."
