Canadian Solar Reports Second Quarter 2014 Results

GUELPH, Ontario, Aug. 13, 2014  -- Canadian Solar Inc. ("Canadian Solar" or the "Company") (CSIQ), one of the world's largest solar power companies, today announced its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2014. 

Second Quarter 2014 Highlights

  • Solar module shipments were 646 MW, compared to 500 MW in the first quarter of 2014 and to second quarter guidance in the range of 600 MW to 630 MW.
  • Net revenue was $623.8 million, compared to $466.3 million in the first quarter of 2014 and to second quarter guidance in the range of $560 million to $590 million.

Second Quarter 2014 Highlights

  • Record revenue of $82.0 million, up 41 percent year-over-year
  • Shipped 132MW (AC) of microinverter systems, up 54 percent year-over-year
  • Record non-GAAP gross margin of 33.0 percent, up 490 basis points year-over-year
  • Non-GAAP operating income at breakeven

CBD Energy Secures 64 megawatt, $112,000,000 Solar Project in Thailand

CBD Energy Limited (CBDE), a diversified clean energy company and leading global provider of solar systems, today announced an agreement with Environmental Engineering Group Thailand (EEG) to construct a 64MW solar park with a projected development cost of approximately $112,000,000. The project is supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Thai Provincial Electricity Authority.

CBDE estimates it will earn pre-tax profit of $6,080,000 from the project’s construction, which is expected to be pre sold to a Singapore-based financial institution. These estimated pre-tax profits are in line with those derived from a previous project completed by CBDE in Thailand.

Hanwha SolarOne Completes Two Module Supply Contracts Totaling 50 MW with China Huaneng Group

Hanwha SolarOne Co. Ltd. (the "Company", or "Hanwha SolarOne"), a top-10 global photovoltaic manufacturer of high-quality, cost-competitive solar modules, today announced it has supplied modules for two projects with an aggregate capacity of 50 MW to one of China's largest state-owned power companies, China Huaneng Group. The modules were delivered to two separate utility-scale installations: (i) an approximately 30 MW in Qingtongxia, a city in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (NHAR) and (ii) a 20 MW project in Wuchuan, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
