Global award recognizes security startup’s industry-leading technology, and future impact on business; chosen from hundreds of applicants
AlienVault, the only open and collaborative Unified Security Management platform - combining built-in controls and full visibility - today announced that it has been named a 2013 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. AlienVault joins 23 of the most innovative global technology start-ups, recognized for their potential to transform the future of business and society.
This year’s Technology Pioneers were chosen by a selection committee comprised of academics, journalists, technologists and venture capitalists. The elite group is known their for success and their visionary leadership in disciplines that include information technology; telecommunications and new media; life sciences and health; and energy and environment.
“We believe that cyber security is truly an economic issue, which is why our recognition by the World Economic Forum is so meaningful,” said Barmak Meftah, president and CEO of AlienVault. “The challenges we face require an entirely new approach, based on openness and collaboration. Our mission – as represented in our Unified Security Management platform and Open Threat Exchange – is to make security visibility available to any organization. This is a fundamental shift from today’s practices.” Added Meftah, “We’re honored that the World Economic Forum believes in our vision, and our ability to create positive change on a global scale.”
Since the World Economic Forum launched in 2000, more than 500 innovative companies have been selected from around the world as Technology Pioneers. Previous Technology Pioneers include transformational companies like Google, PayPal, Mozilla, DropBox and others.
“These companies are more than pioneering the way we use technology; they are transforming how we as a society are growing and interacting with each other,” said Silvia von Gunten, Head of Technology Pioneers at the World Economic Forum. “They are also providing new opportunities for people to harness the potential of technology.”
The Technology Pioneers will be honored at the Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2012 in Tianjin, People’s Republic of China, on September 11-13, 2012.
“Recognition from the World Economic Forum is an extraordinary validation of the long-term potential and proven impact AlienVault is already having on business and society,” said J. Alberto YĆ©pez, chairman of AlienVault and managing director of Trident Capital. “The company’s innovative products level the playing field, making it possible for everyone—not just large organizations with big budgets—to benefit from a comprehensive security solution.”
