The French deal comes at a time when many European organizations are considering the likely impact of stronger privacy rules and a new requirement for data breach notification. These were outlined in the European Commission’s proposal for a revised Data Protection Regulation and Directive, published in January. It is hoped that the harmonization of data protection across the European Union will create a baseline for organizations operating within European member countries.
