Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX:ABT.TO - News), the industry standard for persistent endpoint security and management solutions for computers, laptops and ultra-portable devices announced today it has entered into a strategic global partnership with Samsung Electronics.
Under the terms of this partnership, Samsung will embed patented Absolute persistence technology into the firmware of Samsung GALAXY mobile devices as a feature of Samsung KNOX, which will be launched later this year. Samsung KNOX is the comprehensive mobile solution for work and play with security enhanced Android platform and application container. With firmware persistence, Samsung users can leverage Absolute Computrace® or Computrace LoJack® for Laptops to remotely track, manage and secure their Samsung GALAXY smartphones and tablets devices globally.
"As we expand our position in the enterprise market, our customers are demanding enterprise level security solutions. This is what Samsung KNOX and Absolute deliver," states Dr. Injong Rhee, Senior Vice President of the Technology Strategy Group at Samsung Electronics. "Absolute's firmware-persistence technology and managed theft protection services are a feature of Samsung KNOX for our enhanced security software and services strategy for the enterprise market."
Absolute Computrace provides organizations with foundational support for all activities related to governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) for the endpoint, allowing them to remotely secure all of their Samsung devices from a single cloud-based console. Devices can be remotely managed and secured on or off the network regardless of user or location. In addition, Samsung device users will be able to secure corporate data to safeguard against breaches, monitor device status, receive alerts and respond pre-emptively in case a device is deemed to be at risk. If a security incident occurs, the Absolute Investigations & Recovery Services Team can provide confidential insight and resolution including the provision of evidence to local law enforcement globally to aid in the recovery of the device.
"We are excited to partner with the global mobile industry leader, Samsung, to provide enterprise mobility management and theft protection solutions for their devices," said John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute Software.
