Iron Mountain helps Entuity’s IT department make 50 percent time savings with automated online server backup solution

LONDON  – August 19, 2009 - Iron Mountain Digital, the technology arm of Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE: IRM) and the leading provider of STorage-as-a-Service (STaaS) for backup and archiving, announced the latest UK customer to select its online automated server backup solution, LiveVault®.   International network management software provider, Entuity, has been a customer of Iron Mountain’s for more than four years, using their off-site backup tape vaulting service. The company recently selected Iron Mountain Digital’s LiveVault solution to add automatic, continuous backup of their servers to complement Iron Mountain’s weekly offsite tape backup programme.

"Our IT department has become increasingly busy maintaining the IT services and IT infrastructure of this technologically innovative company and it was therefore becoming challenging to backup our daily data manually via tapes,” said Chucka Eya, IT Manager at Entuity. “We wanted to find an automated backup process to help us and spoke to two other companies but Iron Mountain Digital’s solution was the most convincing in the market.”   “The daily responsibility of manually backing up our tapes was becoming onerous, especially when we needed cover in the department during holiday periods.   Using LiveVault has enabled us to automate our data backup and archiving process, not only reducing our operational effort, but also improving ease of access,” said Eya. “I don’t have to be onsite to oversee our data recovery operations or respond to user requests; I can access the servers remotely through the LiveVault website whenever needed.”   LiveVault® helps customers with: ·         secure, reliable, automated online backup of their servers, up to every 15 minutes ·         online and real time access to data, wherever you are in the world ·         a simple and speedy process for restoring data when needed ·         reducing backup windows (the amount of time taken to copy a given data set to the backup device)   “Based on the last two months, we’ve been able to make an estimated 50-60 percent in time savings by using LiveVault,” said Eya. “We now have more time to focus on our core responsibilities such as delivering IT projects that help Entuity operate more efficiently. When we’ve worked long hours on a project, LiveVault has given us the flexibility of not having to return to the office early the next morning, as it continuously backs up our servers automatically.”   Online solutions such as LiveVault, combined with tape backup, provide a comprehensive backup strategy to ensure data is continuously backed up and easily accessible. In the event of a disaster or need for data to be restored, it is important that organisations can recover their data in multiple ways. By having online and tape backup, customers have the flexibility to recover their data in the best way that suits their situation at the time.    “In these challenging economic times, companies can make time and cost savings by selecting LiveVault, like in the case of Entuity, and they have gained more control and flexibility over their data,” said Richard Ellis, Manager of the UK & Ireland’s direct and channel business at Iron Mountain Digital. “At Iron Mountain, we strive to help our customers improve their business with efficient information management so they can focus on their core business. We helped Entuity find the most appropriate information management solutions to fulfil their organisation’s needs.”   For more information about Iron Mountain’s LiveVault solution with support, please visit: http://www.ironmountain.co.uk/digital/server and for more information about Iron Mountain Digital’s portfolio of services and solutions, please visit: http://www.ironmountain.co.uk/digital
