Merrex Intersects 5.52 g/t Gold Over 24.5 Metres in Siribaya Drilling
Gregory Isenor, P.Geo., President and CEO of Merrex Gold Inc. (\"Merrex\")(TSX VENTURE: MXI) announces more very positive assay results (5.52 g/t over 24.5 metres) from Phase II drilling at Siribaya\'s Area 55 of Zone 1B.
\"The drilling at Siribaya continues to yield excellent assays\" said President Gregory Isenor. \"Area 55 gold mineralization has close spaced drill-confirmed continuity of 300 metres on strike and 250 metres in depth. Area 55 is a very small portion of the 10 kilometre long Siribaya Structure. I am convinced that a significant gold deposit will be proven at Siribaya.\"

The 2008 Phase II core drill program of 17 holes totalling in excess of 4,000 metres was designed to test a hydrothermal, breccia-hosted, very high-grade sulphide/massive sulphide gold zone which has returned intersections as high as 5.07 g/t Au over core length of 33 metres and 5.92 g/t Au over 20 metres from earlier drilling. This particular sulphide/massive sulphide mineralized zone appears to extend for over three kilometres north and south from Zone 1B\'s Area 55. Recent drilling has established the continuity of that zone along strike for 300 metres and to depth of 250 metres. The zone is open at depth and along strike to both the north and the south.
Zone 1B is a one kilometre zone that is part of the10 kilometre Siribaya Structure which has yielded ore-grade drill intercepts along the entire length. To date, Merrex has invested over $8,000,000 in effective exploration at Siribaya, has secured over 700 square kilometres of contiguous exploration permits with a further 200 square kilometres in process, has commissioned a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate and is developing what management believes will become a significant gold deposit.
Merrex has made a significant gold discovery at Siribaya and has confidentiality agreements in place with a number of gold producing companies. At present management is actively considering several alternatives to aggressively accelerate the exploration and development of its Siribaya Gold Project.

HQ size drill core samples were detail logged, samples were collected every one metre down the entire hole and the samples shipped for gold analysis. Analysis of half core samples was carried out by ALS Chemex ABILAB Laboratory in Bamako and Merrex\'s independent Quality Control and Quality Assurance protocols for drill core included blank samples and duplicate samples. The program is being carried out under the supervision of Jean-Marc Gagnon, P. Eng., MBA, the qualified person, as defined under National Instrument 43-101, responsible for the technical information presented in this news release. The driller was the African division of Longyear Canada, of North Bay, Ontario.
