TELUS Adds Bench Strength to its Security and Risk Management Technologies With Acquisition of Groupe Enode Inc.

Acquisition consolidates TELUS' leadership in IT services, adding to its innovative data centres, cloud-based technologies and existing security services

(TSX:T)(TU) - TELUS is acquiring Enode, a Quebec City-based security IT firm specializing in providing businesses and government agencies with cutting-edge technologies and services for security and risk management. Enode's skilled professionals and technologies will be integrated into TELUS Security Solutions activities beginning April 1. This acquisition will enhance TELUS Security Solution's end-to-end provision of IT security for businesses in Quebec and across Canada while also protecting its customers' digital data from security threats.

"TELUS has been a major partner of Enode for many years, collaborating in the success of several major projects in Quebec. We are delighted to take our long-standing partnership a step further and join this well-regarded national team, which shares our passion for innovation as well as our commitment to excellence, our customer-focused approach, and the creation of real value for the businesses we serve," said Martin Berthiaume, president and CEO of Enode. "Our team of seasoned professionals will join the 180-strong TELUS Security Solutions team. Moving forward, Enode's innovative services will be powered by TELUS on a national scale, which draw upon the power of TELUS' networks and technology."

"TELUS has always made it a priority to provide exceptional security services, whether securing confidential data for a customer or supporting a major enterprise or government agency in developing secure networks and infrastructure," said Yogen Appalraju, vice-president, TELUS Security Solutions. "The number of organizations victimized by security breaches continues to rise every year. By expanding our capacity with the acquisition of Enode, we are strengthening our ability to protect our customers against web-based threats for many years to come."

In 2012, TELUS kicked off a new strategy focussed on IT, specifically through an investment of $150M for the construction of Intelligent Internet Data Centres in Rimouski, Quebec and Kamloops, British Columbia, which are among the most modern, reliable and secure in North America. These facilities marked a strategic shift toward the deployment of next-generation flexible and secure cloud computing technologies that allow companies to run and manage their applications using their own virtual private cloud server.

"With its innovative data centres, its significant financial investments in IT, and its managed cloud-based services, TELUS has always set the standard for the industry. Our customers' trust has led us to become a Canadian leader in managed hosting, and our IT services are the product of two decades of industry experience," adds François Gratton, President of TELUS Québec and Atlantic Canada.
