Monthly Copper Production Record in March and First Quarter Production Results
Mercator Minerals Ltd. (TSX:ML) ("Mercator", or the "Company") is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned Mineral Park Mine in Arizona produced a monthly record 3,859,978 pounds of copper in March. In addition Mineral Park produced 417,491 pounds of molybdenum, and 52,813 ounces of silver. For the first quarter, Mineral Park produced 9,488,549 pounds of copper, as compared to guidance of 9.3 million pounds; molybdenum production was 1,008,517 pounds as compared to guidance of 900,000 pounds, and silver produced was 158,668 ounces.

Phase II Construction Update
Phase II construction continues on schedule for start-up in July. Notable milestones reached since the last update include:
-- Structural steel is set for the first six rougher cells.
-- Second stacker foundation is complete and the take-up structure
foundation construction is in progress.
-- Gas turbine and generator are in Phoenix and are scheduled for
setting by the end of April.
-- Power line from the generator site to the mill is complete.
-- Required natural gas pipe is on-site and approximately 5 miles
has been installed.
