News Release: New Contracts Totalling C$25.7 Million Including Major Contract

Trojan Technologies Inc. (TUV TSX) announced that it has been awarded new contracts totalling C$25.7 million to provide ultraviolet water disinfection systems.

The largest of these new contracts is for an ultraviolet (UV) drinking water disinfection system to be installed in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The contract, valued at C$5.6 million, was awarded by the Dutch water board, Waterbedrijf Europoort (WBE). Upon completion of a pilot program, the full- scale system will be installed at the WBE's Berenplaat drinking water plant in 2004. Once fully operational, the plant will be the largest UV drinking water installation in Europe. The Trojan equipment will treat 124 million gallons (468,000 m(3)) of water per day. The plant serves over 1.5 million people in the city of Rotterdam and surrounding region.

'We selected Trojan because of its long experience in this industry and its proven track record. The company is driven by science, and its

technology has been independently validated. For a such a large and important project, we wanted the best,'said Paul Oostdam, Project Manager of WBE.

Also announced were other new purchase orders valued at C$16.1 million for municipal wastewater and C$3.8 million for drinking water disinfection equipment.

Trojan has received strong demand, particularly within the North American market, for its ultraviolet (UV) technology. Contract awards of significant value included wastewater projects in Wisconsin and Louisiana in the United States with a combined value of approximately C$4.3 million, which will be replacing existing chlorination systems. In the fast emerging municipal drinking water disinfection market, demand was particularly strong within Canadian markets accounting for the majority of orders.

These new contracts received during the Company's fourth quarter (which ended August 31) build Trojan's order backlog to C$53 million - a record level.

'We've concluded fiscal 2002 on a high note with a particularly strong fourth quarter in new orders,'said Allan Bulckaert, President and CEO of Trojan Technologies. 'Our significant order backlog positions us to achieve further revenue and earnings growth in fiscal 2003. These announcements, with a combined value of C$25.7 million, recognize our strong market presence in North America, Europe and Asia.'

Demand for the Company's UV technology has been strong, particularly in North America. 'We're seeing a strong preference for Trojan's UV disinfection systems among North American treatment plants,'said Jan van der Woerd, Vice President of North American Municipal Sales. 'Our efforts to meet customer needs for technically sound and superior systems and reliable after sales service are generating results.'

Trojan's ultraviolet disinfection systems effectively destroy water-borne pathogens including E.coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

Trojan designs, manufactures and sells ultraviolet disinfection systems for municipal wastewater, drinking water systems for residential, municipal and commercial use, and industrial systems for food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor applications. Trojan also designs and installs treatment technology for the removal of chemicals from water. It has the largest installed base of UV municipal systems in the world - approximately 3,000 systems in over 25 countries treating a total of more than 12 billion gallons of water per day.

The Company has over 350 employees around the world with its head office in London, Ontario with offices located in Germany, the U.K., the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and the United States. Its shares are traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the trading symbol TUV.
