Noveko International Inc. ("the Company") is pleased to announce that it has made a first delivery to Mexico of about one million 3xEZ and 4xEZU antimicrobial face masks, representing the quantity of such masks in stock at the Terrebonne warehouse of Noveko Inc. ("Noveko"). These masks are sold through Artimedica, S.A. de C.V., a major Mexican distributor serving the government, hospitals and other healthcare establishments in Mexico. Additional deliveries are planned in the short term as supplies become available.
As a result of the recent surge in swine flu cases, many health organizations have issued recommendations regarding prevention methods to limit the airborne transmission of the swine flu virus. They include wearing a face mask and washing hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based antiseptic products, which are also marketed by the Company.
The face masks incorporating Noveko's patented antimicrobial technology offer increased protection due to the antimicrobial agents integrated into the fibres of each mask layer. "The action of the active membranes of our masks allows not only the filtration of pathogens, but also their neutralization, thereby preventing their growth and biocontamination of the environment when users dispose of them. The filtration membranes used in manufacturing our masks also ensure easier breathing and increased comfort. The face masks can be worn for an extended period of time without losing their effectiveness," said Alain Bolduc, President and Chief Operating officer of the Company.
Mr. Bolduc added that "the Company has taken the necessary measures to increase its mask production, calling upon the services of Canadian, American and Asian businesses. Given the current context, we are receiving many requests from different markets for our antimicrobial face masks and are trying to meet them in an orderly fashion given the limited inventories at the present time. Our know-how may help reduce human-to-human transmission of the swine flu virus. We therefore hope to maintain the health of a greater number of people."
Postponement of the closing for the sale of Bolduc Leroux Inc.
On another matter, some preconditions to the transaction for the sale of the Company's shares in the Bolduc Leroux Inc. subsidiary having not yet been fulfilled, the parties have agreed to postpone the closing of the transaction to no later than May 31, 2009.
